  1. Is this game any good? I watched some reviews around launch so Im assuming things have been improved/patched?

  2. Looking at what this DLC contains, the only thing that might make it worthwhile to reinstall is this:

    >New Flashpoints
    >A wide variety of new branching short stories that link together mercenary missions, crew conversations, special events, critical choices, and rare bonus rewards.

because everything else is nice to have, but doesn’t fix that the game’s combat is great but repetitive, while campaign is open-ended it has no narrative. Players just burn out repeating exact same game loop that has next to no risk of failure, and nothing much to achieve except more of the same.

Interesting ‘quests’ would fix that, if they added enough of them.

    As for the rest…

Most combat in game is fought with direct LoS – so the ECM additions will at most open up a way to exploit AI better.

While past experience tells me that novelty of 2 new chassis and a few battle maps wears out fast.

It’s one of my favorite games, but I will probably wait for a sale on this because I don’t think the only part of it that I care about is worth 20$.

I wish they would start focusing on the campaign aspect, rather than the battlefield. I want to be able to affect the politcal star map. I want base building and economy with a runway longer than 1 week of play time. I want faction diplomacy that’s a bit more than just grinding 1 number with the same missions. The combat in this game was fine after first patch.

  3. I love xcom, but battletech was just too obtuse to get into for me. I feel like anyone can sit down and figure out the mechanics behind xcom fairly easily. Battletech felt like a chore to learn, so I just gave up. I didn’t feel like the game was respecting my time, which is a huge turn off for me in videogames.
