  1. Thats a really cool GRUB theme, not sure about Windows, but for Linux you could take it a step further and customize plymouth to give you a custom boot animation. r/unixporn would probably like this.

  2. I used to have the almighty tape over the webcam, too.

I recently soldered a switch into the webcam power cable when I replaced a display hinge, so at least I don’t have to keep a roll of tape around anymore.

  3. I thought i would like to try this till i read your comment on how you did it. Im not that smart. Good on you though

  4. Hey that’s pretty cool, but I feel like my setup is a bit more realistic for a fallout/post apocalyptic situation.

First I have to pull the battery out for a few seconds, then put it in and plug in the charger, then make sure the tape holding the charger is in the perfect position to actually provide power. After that I have to angle the screen perfectly so that it will light up, and not just sit there dead. Finally I have to stare at the windows logo and make sure it doesn’t freeze while booting, otherwise I have to force shutdown and restart the entire process over again.

Sure it seems like a lot of work and any normal person would just replace their laptop at this point, but I feel like it’s the most authentic expirience I can have while playing fallout 1 and 2 (because let’s be honest, it can’t handle 3, new Vegas, or 4)
