  1. >On the games side, Microsoft will be showing off 14 titles from their own game studios, according to Phil Spencer. Of that, I expect titles like Gears of War 5 (codenamed Halifax) will have a strong presence, and we will also see items like new DLC for State of Decay 2, Forza Horizon 4 Expansion 2, Halo Infinite trailer and gameplay, Age of Empires info, Fable details may be tossed in as well; it looks like there will be at least 3 new IPs that we haven’t seen previously.

    >For Halo Infinite, this will be the first real showing of the next generation game. Microsoft will be running the demos from a PC with an Xbox controller as they don’t want the first impression of the new game to be running on the now dated Xbox One hardware.

    >As Microsoft announced last week, GamePass for the PC will be talked about in much greater detail. I noted last week that the company was working on a new PC application for the service code-named Garrison and WalkingCat has found evidence of its existence. Supporting my post, Microsoft is also rebranding today the Xbox PC app to Xbox Console Companion, clearing the way for the new app to arrive in the very near future.

  2. I think they need to one up Google with their Stadia announce just days before. But this makes it sound that xCloud is some time off. But it would be sweet if they announced something that allowed Steam and other PC game store games to run on their cloud, like GeForce Now. PC,Xbox games on the PC,Xbox or in the cloud tied into a Xbox Pass or PC Pass sub. That’d steal a lot of Stadia’s thunder.

  3. I never thought I’d say this, but Microsoft’s conference is the thing I’m looking forward the most this E3.

  4. Well, it couldn’t go any lower than it has been for the last 5-8 years.

“We care about the PC as a platform and are dedicated to it.”

That was pretty much all we got for quite some time.

  5. Honestly I don’t think Microsoft will ever top their Mech Cockpit from the Metreon back in the late 90s.

Sitting in that thing was just awesome.

  6. They have been setting the bar pretty high ever since they brought their games onto PC IMO. Their conferences are easily my favorite ones. They absolutely killed it last year. It makes sense though. Ever since they lost this gen, they have been trying to get consumers back to take the lead again next gen. They are playing their cards right and looks like they will have their way. I just hope they don’t get to over confident like Sony and start acting like them 3-4 years from now.

Also my favorite part is when the Giant Bomb guy interviews Phil Spencer for like 45mins. Hands down the best part of E3.

  7. >But the darling of the event will be the company’s xCloud service. Microsoft has been talking about this service for about a year and at E3, we will get a new look at the offering.

    What? No!

Gamers don’t care about cloud services, that’s for future investment way down the line, the article even talks about the performance of the two consoles. Why would they undermine that with cloud stuff?

If they do this, it’s gonna be as bad as making the Xbox One conference all about the TV features when everyone was cutting the cord.

What would a demo even achieve? Oh look, a game is playing. Wow, it’s not like we haven’t been able to play games on a screen before. Oh, it’s through internet infrastructure? Your press conference ‘perfect case scenario’ doesn’t have any real world meaning.

  8. If they announced windows minecraft mods (which could totally be a thing and I’m just out of the loop) I would be impressed with their recent actions.

  9. If they show AOE4 they win this E3 for me easy peasy (unless aoe4 looks like garbage). That is my only criteria damnit!

  10. This is the year to do it. A lot of the major pubs have bowed out entirely, Bethesda is going to get laughed off stage with fallout 76 promises but no elder scrolls, no starfield. The only real competition are Sony and Nintendo. Hell, the MS show might be better than the PC specific show.

I really can’t wait to see how invested in pc MS is planning to go with this first salvo. This is a huge ask, considering their only IP worth two shits right now is Halo. Every other MS exclusive attempt at a console pusher has been an abysmal failure save Forza and Gears, the later not having a recent entry. Crackdown, Recore, Sea of Thieves, State of Decay, all worthless in the grand scheme of things. Scalebound canceled. Really not a great run recently.

  11. They’ve already done very well the last 2 years while others have mostly gotten worse, so I’m looking forward to it.

  12. I want new IPs. Forza, Gears, AoE are nice an all but ive seen enough of them. Unless they have some stellar new games Im leaving the ecosystem. They have had like 3 good games this generation and i cant think of one that was story driven. This is the conference where they need to exceed expectations or imo they will have a horrible start to the next gen. Play station putting in the SSD has already put them in front imo.

  13. I’m just waiting for Microsoft to announce they’ll be supporting linux gaming and everyone lose their minds.
