  1. It looks great but… ouch. I am looking forward to the day RTX is developed enough to be cost effective. (Both financially and hardware/performance.)

  2. well it’s not just lightning changed. I see also higher resolution textures and models. But the fps difference is really big. We’ll see, after some more optimization it can’t be so bad.

    You remember E3 BF5 or it was Gamescom? Where they said that 2080Ti couldn’t make even 30fps in 1080p?

  3. Call me crazy, but as a player, I prefer the look of older version of the game, visilbility was simply better due to less pronounced shadows among other things. Even though it’s less realistic, it’s just more pleasing to the eye when the lighting is more uniform throughout the level – especially so in fast paced FPS as Quake.

  4. You can mimic this FPS loss with a heavy reshade profile. Losing hundreds of frames is just the cost of modern effects. Im not sure why everyone thinks this is an RTX issue.
